Mobile Crossflow

Crossflow filtration offers the winemaker peace of mind when it comes to removal of bacteria from wine. When used ahead of sterile cartridges on a bottling line, the wine is bottled bacteria free and with little or no stripping effect.

Our Crossflow filtration setup is a state of the art 6 membrane machine manufactured by VA FILTRATION

• Flow rate from 400-600 GPH 

• One step filtration to less than 0.6 NTU

• No increase in temperature of the wine

The filter requires a dedicated 50 amp, 250 volt, NEMA 6-50R, 2-pole, 3-wire single phase hook up installed by the winery no more than 70’ from the filtering location.   (Click on picture for more detail about this requirement)

Nitrogen for purging the membranes at the start and finish of each wine.

All wines MUST be racked off of lees, bentonite or creme of tartar 48 hrs. ahead of scheduled appointment.  Any sugar or concentrate additions must be made 48 hrs. ahead of scheduled appointment.  Wines should be between 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit

A clean tank to start; tanks must be organized in a manner to prevent waiting time in between wine changes

Two 70’hoses are provided as part of the filtering service.  Hoses should be supplied  by winery for any tanks that are more than 70’ of the filter location to make up the distance. 

Filtering Day Checklist

• Clean tank to start with

• Nitrogen 

• Clean hoses if tanks are over 70’ from filter location

• 1 person to prepare following tanks 

• Power supply

• Wines between 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit
